Jap Show 09
So I headed down the the Jap Show at Santa Pod on Sunday. The weather was great, the crowds were great and the action was great :) Santa Pod was hosting the HKS drag championship so the quarter mile strip was seeing a lot of high power action. Just as I arrived I caught a run by an R33 GTST Skyline that clocked in at 8.6 seconds, damn that’s quick!
There was a decent selection of traders selling a wide range of car goodies from speakers to carbon door cards. I saw a few items that would have been nice for my 180sx, most prominantly the carbon center consle by EP Racing. Very tasty! I was also sorely tempted to buy some blue Volk wheels nuts to compliment my new chrome SSR’s (should be arriving next month) but at £100 a set I couldn’t justify it..
Nissan UK brought along a silver GTR and a brand new 370Z! They look great in the metal, much nicer than the 350Z in my opinion. Kudos Nissan UK.
Some nice cars were on display but I was a little dissapointed to not find any 180sx’s :( There were plenty of nice Skylines, Hondas, Scoobies etc. One nice suprise was to see one of the Vielside RX7’s from the Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift movie on the Knight Racer stand. They changed the wheels to some gash looking ones but the bodywork was spot on.
There was a drift arena setup at the back of the drag strip and that had action going on all day although I didn’t see many experienced guys out there, those who were, were giving it a good show. A yellow Silvia PS13 was my favourite, it’s just a shame I didn’t get to see it up close and snap some pics.
My favourite car of the show was the HKS Silvia S15, it’s a regular car at the shows but I hadn’t seen under the bonnet until yesterday. The SR20DET has been fitted with a gorgeous HKS 3037s turbo kit and it’s giving me terrible thoughts to rush into a top mounted turbo setup. It looks so awesome!! I took loads of pics of this setup..
Overall it was a good show, i’ll be heading back for the Jap Show Finale later on in the year.
