Health check

Now the SX has been on the road for a little bit it was time to get it checked over, so this evening I headed over to Steve @ FC Tuning.

When I arrived (late!!) Steve hooked up the wideband and det detector to the car, I was there to have a general check over and set up the AVCR. The car was running about 10psi on actuator boost, but with my set up I should be running about 18psi.

The boost was set to about 1.2bar and we went for a test, but it was heavily over fuelling at 4k. Due to this we had to wind the boost down a few notches and try again. There was also some det detected at this setting so Steve immedaitly lowered the boost and the run was aborted.

After a few more runs we settled at about 0.95bar as a safe level for now, I’m still get spikes of overfuelling but only at certain RPM on different loads so I can work around it.

On a positive note Steve commented on how smooth my CA was running and that the turbo (currently a GT28R) really wants to pull. He also liked my 180sx digital dash, so I think I may have cost him some money there ;)

I’ll be opting for one of Steve’s Nistune ECU’s in the very near future, as not only will I be able to get it mapped to my car specifically but it future proofs it as well. Lets face it, I’ll be upgrading the power at some point!

So big thanks to FC Tuning and I’ll be seeing you sooner rather than later!
