Received my wheels today

I finally received my SSR Professor wheels today and mananged to get some specs:

Fronts - 18×9.0 ET+24 with 225/40/18

Rears - 18×10.5 ET+18 with 265/35/18

I took one of the rear wheels out and lined it up next to my sorry looking car..

Joe can you shed any light on what would be involved in fitting the front wheels under standard arches, did you just get away with an arch roll and removing the arch liner?

I know theres probebly no chance in hell ill manage to get the rear wheels under standard arches though. :(

Marteh, I run 17 9″ ET+11 (and 5mm spacer) on the front, and 10″ ET+24 on the rear (yours will extend 12mm further than these), on standard arches. My rears have a roll and slight pull.

My front arches only have a roll where I attacked it with a breaker bar, ideally I need to run slightly thinner tyres, currently running 225/45!

Give Arch enemy a bell, with a pull/flare you should be able to run the rears. If you have 4 pots up front you may need to run a 5-10mm spacer to clear the caliper.

You should be able to get the front straight on but it will depend on your brakes. With stock 180sx calipers you will need a 5-10mm spacer to clear the front calipers, I running am 9.5j et+30 front and I *needed* a 20mm spacer to clear my Z32 calipers.

SP1 spoke design does not lend itself well to even slightly beefy calipers! We had to file mine down a little just to get a few mm clearance.

You will want to flatten the lip on your stock front metal arch, this can just be folded over onto itself and you will want to bash out any metal bits that are protruding from the arch that may contact the tyre. Also bin the arch liner. And consider relocating your wiring loom as I did in a recent post.

The rears might well get away with just a big pull but you will want to get a professional arch roller to do that. I’d recommend Arch Enemy as he has a couple of authorized guys around the country and one should be able to reach you. They know what they are doing and will hopefully preserve your paint.

Either way it is going to look stunning and correct me if i’m wrong but that isn’t gun metal, that’s SSR’s top of the range Super Black Coat chrome finish. (The exact finish I am going to paint mine!).

These wheels rock and you got a bargain!

thanks guys, ill give SRB a try and see if they can do me a deal on some wider front and rear fenders as i will be running Z32 calipers when these wheels get fitted ill also pm archenemy with the specs and see if its possible.

samoht: these would have been for sale mate but i had an incident involving a kerb, got a quote for the repair and was told £300 for the rear wheel that was just the repair no polish or paint, even though they are rare wheels i just cant see myself paying that sort of money to repair 1 wheel the front wheel in the pic is also damaged slightly, other side is fine though. if your still interested after that then we can sort something out but i doubt you will.

Mareth, if your planning on running over fenders I have a set of 4 to 5 spacers you could buy ;)

I believe they are 20mm front and 25mm rear, I bought them off a guy on driftworks, but never used them (I managed to get decent 4 studs ones!).
