5 stud conversion & wheels

Well FINALLY i have managed to get the front 5 stud conversion done in just short of 2 months :( the time it took me was more down to being messed around by the engineer that i used, which i can tell you now is never going to happen again unless they buck up.

Anyway to the conversion its self, fairly simple job to do, car has only been in the country for a year so i didnt have issues with siezed bolts or anything which was a bonus. but im not one to go on and on about the progress so ill just let the pics do most of the talking.

Started off by removing the hub assembly and lower arm.

Got some inserts made up for the hubs and new S14 ball joints arrived for my S13 lower arms, also went about beefing up my braking power slightly with Red Stuff pads as the OEM pads were horrible.

I knew i been need to make some adjustments to the alignment in order to make the wheels fit nice so i went and purchased my Driftwork four arm alignment kit.

Once I had the hubs and tension rods fitted i thought id place an S14 disc on and then place the wheel on to find I was having some clearance issues with the coilovers so i fitted some washers to see roughly how much of a spacers id need to clear them, I judged about a 10mm spacer would do but then id also have issues when going to fit my R32 4pots so went for a 15mm spacer just to be sure. So when they arrived the fitting of the spacer kit was made that bit more easier by Joes helpful spacer fitting guide on here.

Also managed to fit my steel steering bush while the car was on axle stands as I noticed the steering column was just wobbling around and what a difference it has made, love it.

So here is the ALMOST final result of the conversion, fitted my rear arm kit the day after these pics were taken but it doesnt look that much different, maybe a little bit more rear camber but I will be taking it to get aligned on friday so i should be running more camber on the rear to sit them in the arch a bit better for when I come to get the arch flared to be that bit more legal.

I’m actually over the moon with the car now, was losing interest but it’s definately got me back wanting to do more to it.
